11 Don’ts When Registering Your eBay ID

Your User ID is the unique nickname you choose for signing in when you first register at eBay. You can change your User ID (once in a 30-day period).The following list includes characters and elements that you cannot include in a user ID.

  • Do not use the @, &,, (, ), <, or > character.

  • Do not use spaces or tabs (You can use a hyphen to represent a space.)

  • Do not use consecutive underscores __

  • Do not use an underscore _, hyphen -, or period . at the beginning of a user ID (for example, -cardcollector )

  • Do not use the word eBay (only eBay employees can use the word eBay in their user IDs).

  • Do not use the letter e followed by numbers

  • Do not use obscene or profane words that violate eBay’s guidelines. See eBay’s rules on profanity

  • Do not use the same User IDuser ID as another seller or similar to an eBay Store name.

  • Do not use a user ID that is similar to the name of an eBay Store

  • Do not use a term that could be confused with a third-party’s trademark or brand (for example, CocaColaSeller)

  • Do not use elements that imply an email address or Web address. You can use your brand name or ecommerce url, for example you own a store at littlebunny.com. You can use ‘littlebunny’ as your eBay id, without the .com, .net, .org, .edu and the likes. Nor can you use any variation of such (for example, _com or -com).
