Wordpress looks like the ultimate platform to build a site nowadays. You can do a whole load of things with Wordpress, not just for blogging. I’m extremely pleased to know that i can build an Ecommerce site out of Wordpress too.
That’s because Wordpress is so much easier to control unlike the ZenCart store i’m using now. Back then, OSCommerce and ZenCart are the platforms you can use if you want to have an Ecommerce site.
The OSCommerce or ZenCart customization takes up lots of your time and the collection of files are so huge. I still dread when i think of using my own ZenCart store and when i think of some changes i’d like to make.
So this week, i’m deleting all my ZenCart files and I’ve start to put in Wordpress instead. And I bumped into these neat Wordpress themes and plugins that you can use. Just pick one, some are free and some charge a fee.
Now, you are spoilt for choice!
1. CraftyCart

I’ve mentioned this before in some of my post. The theme is cute at first glance, but you’ll slowly grow bored of it. I like something else. This theme is to be used with WP Ecommerce plugin.
2. WP Ecommerce Plugin
This is the one i’m using right now, which is quite popular. They are free to use but if you need more functionality and better layout, then you need to upgrade to their gold cart shop. This plugin is created by Instinct Entertainment based in New Zealand
3. Eshop Plugin
This is also free to use which i’m comparing with WP Ecommerce plugin at the moment. This is by Wordpress itself and is pretty popular.
4. Yakk Plugin
Yakk is an open sourcing Ecommerce /Shopping Cart plugin for Wordpress, which means it’s free to use. The feature of this plugin is much more simple and the things they can do are a bit limited.
5. Shopp Plugin

Shopp is an e-commerce plugin that adds a feature-rich online store to your WordPress-powered website or blog. It charges $55 for a single site license. If you need intergration with shipping or payment companies, you add $25 for each add on.
6. Market Theme

Market is the revolutionary theme that transforms any standard Wordpress install into a fully functional Ecommerce store complete with backend product administration. The standard license costs $55. And it’s not just limited to one site, which is pretty affordable.
7. WP Shop

WP Shop is a feature packed theme with shopping cart integration. I like most of their Ecommerce themes. Their theme costs $35. So, you should really go for this if you want something you can just plug in and use professionally.

They are not one of the cheapest around but the site build upon Ecommerce Theme sure look like a full blown Ecommerce site. You won’t know they are build using Wordpress until you found out. You can create and manage your own ecommerce store and sell your products with breeze with Ecommerce Theme.
9. Tobashop

Just like the previous theme and another of the best choice, which costs a low $25. Purchasing this theme is for a single support license which means they only support single website for each purchase.
