Hey! Planning to list some Apple iPhone 3G for some quick bucks? There are now stricter policies to stick to.
The following listing policy will be effective immediately with the launch of Apple iPhone 3G. Two very important things to take note:
- Pre-sales listings are now officially illegal.
- Post-launch sales must adhere to criterias.
1. eBay is prohibiting all pre-sales of the iPhone 3G. That means no listing of iPhone for pre-order before July 11th 2008 (but that’s over now).
That’s because prior to the release of similar high-demand electronics, there were a number high number of well-intentioned sellers unable to meet their pre-sale obligations to buyers due to restricted supply, as well as an increase in fraudulent listings for these items.
1. Criteria for Apple iPhone 3G Post-Launch Sales.
- The listing must include a unique photograph of the item or items
- Your User ID must be clearly displayed within the photograph (watermarks will not be accepted).
- To ensure buyer protection, PayPal must be the only accepted form of payment
Sellers will also be notified of these requirements during the listing process when using the Sell Your Item form.

Doesn’t seem to be a bad move overall with the uncontrolled number of people listings stuff on eBay like Amazon kindle, Nintendo Wii and iPhone previous release. Don’t you just lose sleep sometimes not knowing which sellers to trust, their photos are all the same and you don’t even know your cheap win on pre-orders will arrive.
