As you know that a buyer cannot touch, feel or smell the product that you want to sell to them. They can only see your product.
Therefore, a proper picture of the product is most important to give out the best visibility of what you are trying to sell to your customers.

First start with taking the picture of the product you are trying to sell. For instance the picture of mugs, hand phones, clothes, clocks and others, which are of varied sizes and shapes.
It is suggestible to use a digital camera and take the photo by your own hands instead of pulling it down from the Internet.
Otherwise, it gives an impression to the customers that either you are very lazy or your products are not that good looking.
Choose the place where you want to keep your product. Keep in mind that the background should go well with the product you choose. Artificial lights can work wonder if used properly.
Natural light can also do great, but direct sunlight should be avoided. Usually for indoor shooting, artificial lights are the best and for outdoor, sunlight goes perfect.
Avoid using the flashers, since they tend to mar the detailing of the photo. The best way to go about eBay photos is by owning a studio of your own. Work up photo tents in it and make sure that your product occupies the major portion of the photo to deliver a good impact.
If the color of the background is in good tune with the color of the product, then that adds to the appeal. But too much design in the backdrop can jar the eyes, making it look crammed. To attract more eyes, give more than one picture of your product from different angles.
This completes your effort.
