God’s Coffee

Been stressed lately? I know I had. You must be looking at me with disbelieve. Me, stressed? Working at home with nobody controlling me? Well, everybody has their ups and downs in life.

I was down with vomit and fast heart beat few days ago. I know I was seriously stressed out.

And it seems many people around me are feeling miserable lately with work stress, money stress, family problems, kids, relationships and the list goes on…

Take a break in your life, sit down, relax and most importantly, read this article. It helps to realise what is the thing in life that we should aim for.

Take life easy! Thanks to the person who send this meaningful article to me.

And very special thanks for Boon for getting me 100plus, Jacobs plus McD porridge when I was losing my appetite that day and desperately need something light to eat.

God’s Coffee

A group of alumni, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said:

“If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress.

Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink.

What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups… And then you began eyeing each other’s cups.

Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of Life we live.

Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God has provided us.”

God brews the coffee, not the cups………. Enjoy your coffee!

“The happiest people don’t have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.”

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

How’s your coffee lately?

My daughter also likes McD’s porridge with 100+ when she’s sick. I always ask, “why Papa’s porridge not good enough is it”?

It’s the weather. Woke up this morning with a high fever myself. The kids say it’s because old people are like taufu. When the wind blows, we get cold, when the sun’s hot, we hangus.

Which reminds me… 5 years ago, when I was sooooooo stressed to the point of getting sick every month (company was cutting people), my doctor was very concerned about my blood pressure.

He said “You know, something’s not right if you keep coming every month and your blood pressure is bordering on heart attack zone. I can give you lots of medication but I think you need this prescription more”. He wrote one word on a piece of paper and gave it to me. The word was “pray”. His advice was real good coffee.

    Take care Jen…

BTW… do you know if Boon delivers to Klang?

Hi Bee, yeap, good old reminders… it feels great to read it again and again.

Andrew, thanks so much for the short but inspirational story. I guess pray gives us perspective. I think I need to find some ‘medication’ myself too. The last thing I want is find myself in the hospital with surgeries again. The past has taught me alot but I still lost track sometimes.

Sam, it is easier said than done though. When we relax, we tend to have nothing much to do, and those worries that cloud our minds come haunting back… :???:
