Hire An Online Freelance Writer – Fast!

If you are battling to write suitable content for your website, it would be a good idea to hire the services of a freelance writer. There’s nothing worse than logging onto a web page and reading content that is badly written.

Here are some helpful tips to lookout for when looking for a freelance writer

#1 Make sure the writer must be competent to write in the language required. If it is English, his or her native language should be English. Anyone who is proficient in writing should easily be able to write articles in English UK or USA style. With the help of ‘language select’ buttons on programs like ‘Word’, it is simple to switch between the two.

#2 If you are sourcing a writer by placing an advert in your local newspaper. In the advert, clearly state your requirements and what you are prepared to pay per article or per hour. Call for one or two samples of recent work and ask applicants to fax or email them to you.

#3 One very important thing to bear in mind is the style of writing. There’s writing, and there’s writing! Some writers can write excellent lengthy articles that provide reams of boring, irrelevant information. For web material, this is not what you’re after. You want a writer who can be clear, concise and get the message across simply. Sentences should be short and well structured.

#4 Sample them! There are a number of freelance sites where you can register as an ‘employer’ and submit details of your job. Writers who have registered on the same site as ‘providers’ can respond to your project. Again, you can ask for samples of recent work.

These freelance sites also offer a facility where you and the potential candidates can liaise privately about the project in more depth. Hopefully, this article has given you some good tips to lookout for when looking for a freelance writer.

One final word of advice: make sure you pay according to the going rates. Competition is stiff out there and good writers won’t work for peanuts.

    Hi Jenny,

Interesting thoughts about outsourcing article writing. I’ve considered this but haven’t gone through with it yet as I’m concerned about the quality of writing from someone who does not have a certain degree of experience and expertise in my particular niche (online marketing, lead and traffic generation).
Do you have any thoughts on this dilemma?
