How to customize Read More in Blogger (Blogspot)

This is another tips requested by one of my reader, Suzette. Actually the codes can be easily found in Blogger help, but to my dismay, the codes are only workable after I made some tweaking to it. Please take note that these codes only apply to the new blogger version.

Now, when a reader visits your blog, this post will appear like this:
Today I went to pasar malam.

When they click the link, they’ll go to the post page where they’ll see the whole thing:

Today I went to pasar malam. I bought many tidbits and fruits. Then I came back and figure out how to customize read more in blogspot.

Jenny, I just gave it a try, but after I put in step 1 and 2, my blog posts disappear. :( Now what should I do? (I’ve returned to original template)

Hi Suzette, hmmm, do you mean all the posts disappear and your main page becomes blank? I’ve tried the codes, it work in my blogger’s blog @ coffeeandcash.blogspot.com.

Ya, my main page - all the posts gone, become empty. Only have the headers and the sidebar. Kind of weird.

Hi Suzette, my guess is the first codes was pasted before “body { ” and not “< body >“. < body > is a little down at the bottom. Try the first codes, if it’s okay, then only proceed to the second codes and so on. Note that there is no space between < , body and >.

Hi Vedis, actually i like the colors, it looks more interesting. But then i think it’s better for the background to be white for easy reading. White also makes the eyes less tired and strain for the readers as there are alot to read. Unless there’s more photos, the photos will come out real sharp in black background!

Hi Bee, anytime! Well, it’s just a little something I can help out.

    Hi Boon, *blush*

I did that. I first Search for “”, not found. So Search for “”. Then pasted the entire first code includeing the style thingy just before that body codes. After step 1, I checked the blog, everything went blank. I wonder if I did anything wrong?
