How To Save Your Time & Get More Things Done In A Day

I’m a queen in slacking. Many days, I can be in front of the PC for 12 hours, but never really get anything done.
There are too many distractions that take away my time, like MSN chatting, YouTube, Facebook, surfing the net.
Here are personally 6 ways on how I manage to save some of my time, not only in front of the computer, which I found pretty effective.
Why don’t you try them out?
1. Focus working on a project at a time
Sometimes there’s so much in my head that I get messed up which one I should be completing first.
When I tried to do them all at once, switching between windows and browser tabs, I find that I tend to forget what I want to do easily.
So, now I’d focus in one activity at a time. Tell yourself “I’ll work on this for 20 minutes and see how much I can get it done for this duration”. Concentrate and do you can for this 20 minutes.
2. Some things can be done less
I realize you can save a lot of time if you do certain things less. For example, you can clear the laundry every 5 days instead of every 2 days.
Your still have enough clothes to wear and your washing machine can still load that extra 3 days of clothes. (okay provided it’s your own laundry please).
You can try this method for cleaning the house too. Say 7 days instead of 5, etc…
3. Group small activities
We usually tell ourselves to deal with the most important thing in the morning first. But do you know that when you are stress, tired and moody, you can find it difficult to focus. You lose more time in the end trying to force yourself doing it.
Okay, do this next time. Put all the smaller activities together, you’d feel you accomplished more at the end of the day.
4. Save 15 minutes everyday.
Do you think you can find 15 minutes everyday that you don’t waste and do things more competently? If you manage to save 15 minutes everyday, how many can you save in a year? Do your calculation! That’s 91 hours you saved in a year!!!
5. Work on a certain project over a certain period of time.
Rather than to try and finalize an activity at once, it is better to tell yourself: “ I will work on this for 15 minutes and see how much I can get done during this interval”. Focus and try to do all you can during those 15 minutes. This is an excellent advice to solve problems or projects you avoided lately.
6. Watch the clock
The keyword here is focus! Focus and get rid of all the things that distract you from your work more efficiently.
Some experts suggest using the egg timer to keep yourself ‘on time’. But I find that you should also have an initial objective. For example “I should finish this piece of blogging post 30 minutes from now”.
And stick to it.

Apart from all that you have listed here, I use a “to do” list for the following day which I prepare every night before going to bed.
