I Started By Selling My Mini Skirts on eBay

Today I will address a question posted to me by Dede, the lucky devil, winner of lucky draw Orang Utan t-shirt. He sent me a list of eBay related questions, I am glad to share my experiences when possible in this dedicated post.

How do you get started in eBay? That was the first question on the list.

Get a unique ID and register yourself. This is pretty straightforward. After you registered with eBay your feedback is obviously zero. Eg. BuyMyMiniSkirts(0)

Try not to look like a total newbie, get some feedbacks for yourself. At least buyers can see from the feedback that you have been a good buyer yourself and pay on time. It just reflects what kind of service they can expect from you when they buy from you.

To collect your first few feedbacks buy something from eBay or get penny ebooks or just look for people who want to exchange feedbacks.

Well, personally, the last two is not recommended as buyers nowadays are getting pretty smart. They can check what you bought and if it is some penniless stuff or free feedback exchange, you are seen just like another new scammers out there, who uses these tactics to build feedbacks. So, do them with caution.

Start by buying something from eBay. You do get good bargain in eBay sometimes. To know how to detect a genuine seller from one who is not, that is a different question and we shall discuss that in detail with another post. But for now, maybe you want to buy from JennyHow *cough*

After getting your first feedback, you may try to start selling if you want. After all, practice makes perfect.

The advantage of being in an Asian country is that you can try your hands on local eBay site without the burden of fees. You can sell in ebay.com.my for a start or ebay.com.sg. Your experience is your best teacher.

By experiencing hands-on selling, you learnt a great many things like writing a catchy auction title, writing a good content description, how to call for action, how to communicate with buyers, how to ship your parcels, what is the correct postage to use, how to solve issues, where to find information, how to use HTML to design your listings and where to improve.

See, that can pretty teach you about blogging too, as the concept are very much the same. HTML allows you to learn WordPress script so much faster too. So, it pays to learn the basic as it can be applied everywhere where you have customers, and in the blog world, it is your readers.

Did I really do the above? Yes, I did. In fact, I sell in ebay.com.my for a start. After selling my brand new iron, i sold all my see-through halter tops, mini skirts, body hugging spaghetti strap tops and office jackets.

If they are worn before, I sold them as “USED” (don’t be surprised, people grab those, and they sell hotter than hot cakes).

If they were new, I sold them as “NEW” or “NEW WITH TAG” if is collecting dust in the wardrobe with the price tag still on.

I also sold them as “LIKE NEW” if they still smell and appear like fresh from the shopping mall.

I collected about 50 feedbacks until I decided to sell internationally. I built my goals, set my objectives and did not rush into things. There again, another thing you can learn for your blog and can be applied in every bit of your life – patience!

Until your next question…

Think you enjoyed this post and it has been informative to you? Stumble it!

P/S: At the same time, I’d also like to apology to Doraemon and many people who sent me a message which I have not responded. The truth is, I have not received any single messages in my inbox. I am glad Iry and KaiWah sent me a message the second time in MyBlogLog. I hope you will too.

In fact, many lessons in ebay can be used in blogging as well, like how to find a niche and where to find it down to communicating with the audiences.

The concept are the same whether you want to start an e-commerce site, blog, webstore, ebay – any business online or offline! It is a matter of how you apply them and how good you make use of them! Be sure to stay tuned for more!

 Boon, now you make me think about all my high heels that are back in the box for good. Wonder how is the market for USED high heelsl? Any takers here?

 Sam, finding what to sell is like finding what to blog. I will go through looking for a niche market and HOW to find it in my near future post too.

 BeeLee, yea, you should. I believe you have a lot of USED mini tops as well, eh? Actually BeeLee, you can consider selling USED baby clothes, they are quite a sellable item in the local / oversea market.

 KaiWah, I am glad this article has help you in anyway. I am sharing many experiences in this blog, not only eBay, if you have read my ABOUT ME section of the things i had went through.

 oh yes KuanHoong, the ULTIMATE point is we are selling ourselves. So, the concept is the same.

 Neo, to tell you the truth, i think they sell as well, not locally though. I knew of a chinese site, forgot which, and a girl got money rolling in by selling used underwear.

 Iry, no matter how busy, i will still reply to messages. When there is zero response from me, it means the email have not landed in my inbox.
