About eBay UK’s Many Exciting Policies Changes This September

ebay-policy-change-september-2008

If you’re a regular eBay UK customer, you should know about the many changes that eBay UK would be implementing starting on the 24th of September. There will be some changes to the fees that eBay UK will be charging for many of its services.

You may notice various changes to the eBay shops on the web site as well. Aside from this, eBay will also start to use detailed seller ratings or DSR’s, which will affect people’s rankings when it comes to the search results. Another thing you should know about involves how the fee illustrator works.

How will eBay UK’s fees be changing?

You will now be able to display a gallery picture beside your listing on the search results. This was initially intended to be a temporary change but now the cost of 15 pounds has been waived.

eBay will also have success-based fees which means that majority of fees for sellers have to be paid only after selling the product. Fees will also be tailored to fit particular business sizes and business models.

Insertion fees for Buy It Now lists will be changing with more varied prices depending on whether you have a non-shop, business shop, feature shop or anchor shop model. Final values for auction listings will also be affected.

You may also want to check out the various fee changes for listing upgrades since eBay will no longer have the old Gallery Featured listing upgrades.

What changes to eBay shops can you expect?

The shop inventory format will no longer be in use but it will be replaced by the Buy It Now format, which can have a listing duration of 30 days or until cancelled.

Signing up for these eBay shops will also depend on requirements like feedback scores, PayPal verification and detailed seller ratings, which you can read more about on the eBay UK web site.

The processes for upgrading, downgrading and canceling shops have also had some changes made to their costs.

What can you expect from eBay UK’s detailed seller ratings?

These ratings come from buyers scoring the transaction based on the categories of item as described, communication, dispatch time and postage and packaging fees. DSR’s for thirty-day periods can affect your rating as a seller, which in turn could give you pricing discounts. There may also be rewards in terms of search results visibility when you garner excellent DSR’s from customers.

What changes could you expect when it comes to ranking results?

As mentioned, DSR’s would affect your visibility when it comes to the displayed search engine results. Number of items sold from Buy It Now listings would also give you improved search rankings.

Do you know how to use eBay UK’s fee illustrator?

With the fee illustrator, you can calculate the fees you need to pay based on a variety of factors. These include the number of listings you usually make and how many items you usually sell and at what average prices you sell them at.

Fees are calculated for all four shop rates such as No Shop, Basic, Featured and Anchor. A helpful fee calculation slider displayed after you get your search results allows you to immediately estimate the fees you need to pay when you either decrease or increase your fixed price listings.

I think both the gallery photos and the detailed seller ratings will be a great help for sellers, and may perhaps arrest the slight decline in growth that eBay has been experiencing.

It is now obvious then that ebay is on a major overhaul of its operations all over the world.
