Setting up an Ecommerce is a daunting task. Back then, there are only a few choices when you want to setup your Ecommerce site selling something – either you ask a designer to set it up for you which usually costs a bomb or you install program like OSCommerce or Zen Cart yourself.
Installing programs are always the easy part. The most difficult thing is setting it up after the installation. Trust me, i used to install Zen Cart myself and it was not a fun thing to do.
You are probably wondering why am I talking about having your Ecommerce site when there are so many places you can put up your things for sale. One good example is Ebay.
Having your own website be it a blog or ecommerce is one of the things you’d eventually do, for a better online presence. That’s because you do not want to rely solely on Ebay or other online auctions forever. Sure, there are alot of people still making a lot of money with Ebay, but most of them do have their own site.
Selling on Ebay is great for some added exposure. I admit I made this mistake of thinking that I’m comfortable selling on Ebay until i discovered that my life is easier with my own website.
The combination of WordPress as the top platform for blogging combined with powerful Ecommerce plugins made it possible for me to set up CraftyCabin.com.
I’m an internet nerd despite being an IT consultant. That said, internet and IT are two very different things. Please do not mix this up.
You can be darn good at your IT job but you can still be an internet noob. That’s me.
So, you can do this too – setting up your own WordPress Ecommerce site. It’s not that difficult, really.
While i’m still making money from eBay for lead generation, I’d really put more effort in selling from my own website.
I’ve just completed my first Ebook about How to Sell Online With Your Own WordPress Ecommerce. Inside I detailed all the steps you need to set up your site using WordPress and my own insider tips on how to optimize it.
If you haven’t got my brand new book, check it out now. Over there, i shared with you how i created my ecommerce blog and sell the stuff i used to sell on eBay there. You can even sell dropshipped products with this kind of site.
Eventually you will have your own website. Why not now? The sooner you do it, the better. And you know that.
