I have only sold about 80 items on ebay and luckily only one went astray. The buyer was not too worried about a refund. The method of payment was not via my usually accepted method (paypal) and it was all going to be a bit tricky trying to organise one. I did contact NZ Post to try and locate the item but they were unsuccessful after their investigation.

just take note on the correct way to refund, so that you get your fees refunded by Paypal too.
