eBay Tips On Selling Antique Scent and Perfume Bottles

On eBay, a globe shaped milk glass perfume bottle attracted 38 bids and ended at $1386.38 and a Lalique perfume bottle fetched $950.

Antique perfume or scent bottles are a great area to explore – the possibilities are high that you may just end up quadruple your investment.

Sometimes, even the cheapest and most ordinary looking perfume bottles bought for a pound or two at flea markets, jumble sales and boot sales, can attract multiple bidders and high finishing prices on eBay.

The trick is to focus on bottles with two or more collecting interests, such as maker and material, for example, a Lalique glass bottle with silver stopper, or a bottle made by Bacarrat and decorated with gold leaf.

At flea markets, look out for box and lots of low value items, such as perfume bottles of half-used scent from the 1950s and earlier. Undamaged labels with maker and perfume name details are popular with advertising enthusiasts.

Maker of bottle or perfume name can cause fierce bidding. Buyers often look for perfume bottle makers like Lalique, Baccarat and Galle, which also means why these perfume bottles fetch high prices on eBay.

Other popular perfume bottles that you can look into:
1. Perfume makers like Christian Dior, Guerlain, Estee Lauder, Avon
2. Cartoon characters such as Bonzo Dog, Felix the Cat, Disney characters, Betty Boop, Florence Upton and Golliwogs.
3. Animals like dogs and cats, hand painted flowers, place names on crested china bottles, or anything of oriental interest.

Many collectors like to use perfume bottles as paperweights too. So, now you can kill two birds with one stone – your target niche are the bottle and paperweight collectors.

Thus, you can also list your antique perfume bottles under ‘paperweights’ in the Collectibles category.

And finally remember to describe all possible collecting interests in the title for your bottle and reach the widest possible market. Look at some of the examples screenshot in this post.

Wow, $950 for a perfume bottle? That is a nice sell job. I would have to add that bottle shape has a lot to do with the price that it will fetch. If the bottle shape is unique in shape and color it could be worth a pretty penny to the seller.
