• Aperture priority setting. The ability to select a small aperture (lens opening) allows you to achieve depth of field, meaning that everything will be in focus, whether it is in the foreground or background.
• USB. Port. Most cameras have these today but make sure yours does so you can link the camera to your computer! A USB cable is the quickest and easiest.
• Other features. Have a look at the memory (pixels), the battery life, whether the liquid crystal display is adequate (LCD), whether the body feels firm and comfortable in your hand, any in-camera functions such as filter effects and image overlay.

The most desirable camera will be a top-brand camera (e.g. a Canon) with a high number of megapixels (6 megapixels produces commercial-quality shots), a lens with an adapter for other commercial lenses (or perhaps a built-in zoom) and a long battery life.

If you cannot afford this camera, you can look around for a camera without the top brand name but with roughly the same features.

As long as the camera gives a reasonable LCD picture, this is adequate for most of us. Only professional photographers or serious hobbyists will demand an industrial-level LCD.
