Work at Home Scams To Avoid

Scams and frauds are a part of life especially when you are dealing a lot online.

It is true. Many people work at home and make a decent living doing it. However, for each person who makes good money working from home, there are many more being scammed.

Criminals put ads in newspapers, magazines, search engines and on websites.

When you see a “job offer” that claims you can make over $50 an hour just working at home – without a degree or experience, you are more than likely reading an ad posted by a scammer.

Some of the ads you will see have been around longer than the internet (envelope stuffing…), but the internet has given them more opportunities to make money off unsuspecting job seekers.

What happens with some of these scams is that you are required to send money for a “start-up” kit, after which you may or may not receive materials. When you do receive the materials, you find that you cannot possibly produce enough to make money or you find that your “job” is to sell START-UP kits.

Other such frauds will tell you how they have thousands of jobs from which to choose but that you will need to become a member of their site in order to view the jobs. To become a member, you must pay a fee.

When you pay the fee, you will find that the majority of the jobs are more scams or are jobs that can be found elsewhere on the net for free.

Make Money Filling Out Surveys
Yes, there are surveys that pay, but they do not employ you from day to day.

The legitimate surveys are usually in the form of test groups and are done in the physical world. You may make a good amount of money in a few hours’ time, but that is where it ends.

You cannot make money filling out surveys online. True, some offer a few pennies or even dollars for filling out surveys, and then tell you that you cannot get your money until you have earned a certain amount.

After this, you are sent surveys that require you to make purchases so you can answer a survey regarding the “service” of the business.

Get Paid to Read Emails and Click
You must click on the links in emails and wait for a minute or so before navigating from the page.
For this, you get pennies.

By the time you build up enough money in your account to get it sent to you, you have essentially worked for as little as $1 an hour.

Another thing they don’t tell you: They only send you a certain amount of them a day.

How You Can Protect Yourself

  1. Never pay for a job.
  2. Never buy a product so you can be paid to fill out the survey. If you want to buy the product anyway, then there is probably no harm, but you will not end up making money this way.
  3. Just as you will find sites like these on search engines when you type in “work at home jobs”, you will find sites that warn you against them. Go there first.
