One of the more challenging issues working from home is the perception of others that you aren’t working. Many people think that working at home isn’t working at all.
They like to think that you have all of the free time in the world. If you are working from home, you’d know what i mean. You could be putting a lot of time and energy to get that results you want. But heck, nobody knows.
Do you have friends who call in the middle of the day or girl boy friends who expect you to be home? or even family members? Who wonders why you’ve not wash your car when you are so free at home?
Or your spouse have wondering why, if you are home all day, the housework isn’t done?
Family or even friends can say things like “Well you have the time, because you are at home.”
In situations like these, I guess we have a choice. We can either get upset and offer a flustered defense like “That’s none of your business!”
Or you can take their comments with a grain of salt and offer a calm response like
“Well, let me check my work schedule. I know I am not available on these days” or “That would be great on Friday afternoon, I can leave time in my work schedule for those types of things then.”
Working at home is no longer a new territory for many people. The number of people working from home is growing. Don’t blame that person who’ve never thought that working home is possible.
Pitifully, 98% of the people I chatted with said they’ve no time to look into other things, much about working from home.
Don’t bother with these stereotypes. Have respect for your own time is one way to make them see that your work is a priority.
And be proud that you can work at home while others dread waking up from their bed to report for work!

People always thought that I’m very free to visit them any time just because i work at home full-time…
Its unfortunate that people think like that. The irony is that many home business owners earn much more than the conventional 9-5 workers
I get the same thing all the time from my family – they think i do nothing at all and that i should have time to do tons of house work all day.
Yea it’s funny how they think you can just go do whatever, I mean you kinda can but still.
