Would you sell your site for USD20k?

Okay okay I know you guys will need that little bit of encouragement every now and then, so that you can realize your dreams in firing your boss and to make moolah online one day soon.

So, I thought I would share you this piece of news about our very own malaysian bloggers in NST today:
Article 1
Article 2

I just like this piece of advice from our local blogger who is getting a freaking 5 figure income monthly:

“When you start, don’t think of making money first. Treat it like a hobby. Be patient and hard working. The rewards are sweet.”

Tell me how many of us are actually doing that? I would do that actually. Patience and hard work are rewarded with sweets handsomely. I have to agree 100% on it. I know it because I have been there.

Anyway, what really caught me to ponder is this sentence:

“Samsul Zamzuri claimed he had been offered up to US$20,000 for the website, but declined the bid for sentimental reasons.”

Tell me, would you sell your website for USD20k?

I guess not if it is generating you a decent figures monthly. After all, you can easily generate more than usd20k with it. But wouldn’t it be a good idea to sell a business that you have set up, sell it, make some money and set up another business to sell?

But I guess I may just end up like Samsul, I will just keep my site for sentimental reasons. After all, life is more than just money.

I’d like to know what you think. A penny for your thoughts? Oops, sorry, maybe you won’t buy that for a penny. Anyway, just share me your thoughts!

 I would sell it for USD20k immediately!!

Ok, on a serious note, if my blog receives high traffic that brings in good revenue, I most probably give that offer a pass. Who knows? It might worth more than that in the future.

Nah, money is not everything, Haha..

I would not sell my site cause it is my name. I am having fun with what I am doing now. But I am thinking of retiring, then why not? :-)

I definitely wouldn’t. The sum would have to be way bigger to even consider it. Why would I wanna get rid of my baby in the first place ? :)

Depends, if I need the money, why not, on the other hand, of course not because then I would be losing my steady income, in long term.

Well, a lot of people do that - set up business and sell them. I guess blog or website is also the same. That’s why YouTube was sold, but with that number no one can beat (at least at this stage).

So, I guess whether or not sentiment, all depend on how much is on the table. :)

[...] If you have been following my blog, you would probably know I despise mass linking for now. I become quite particular which blog I am getting a link from. If I am writing something about the site and I am learning something from it, then it should be good for me and you. The idea of getting a link from Gobala’s site is a great example as he is one of the featured guys in NST Article. [...]

I wouldn’t sell mine for that, no way! Maybe for ten times that I would sell it. No, I don’t think so, I would miss it too much!

Setting up a business is easy but promoting and making it successful is not. Therefore once you have a business that is successful, the wise choice would be to keep it (unless offered tons of money for it). But for 20K I would not sell either.
