Home office is pretty much like a ‘real office’. Only that it is in a much smaller scale. You do need some software and hardware to go hand in hand with your daily home business transactions. What kind of printer do you have in your home office?

I purchased this multifunction Samsung SCX-4521F printer for my home office a few months ago. In short, all I can say is that I couldn’t ask for more. This is one of the cheapest laser all-in-one models on the market at about $280.

Well it is supposed to print, copy, fax and scan, and to a certain extent it does just that. Print wise it does about 20 ppm of text which is perfectly sufficient for my needs, and even fonts at pts were readable.

Graphics wise though, it only prints black and white. So if you print a lot of graphics, you’d want to look for a color printer. I mostly print invoice, shipping labels and reports with it, so a black and white serves me well.

Scanning is not something I do a lot of, but it does create some decent images. So far I have had no issues with the fax facility and it seems fairly fast. Samsung claimed that it will print of 3 sec/page and that seems about right from what I have seen.

This is a fairly small and light printer, perfect for the home or small office. Installation and setting up is also a breeze with all leads and software coming with the printer to make the whole setting up take next to no time. Ink wise, I have no complaints compared to the inkjet printer I used to use (what a terrible comparison that makes though).

The Samsung SCX-4521F is decent enough for the price. If you want a cheaper printer, you can consider the HP OfficeJet 5780 for less money. It is less office orientated though.

So, which printer do you use in your home office?

Simplx doesn’t seems to have a very good repultation amongst the eCommerce community, and this is no small part due to the fact that you have to pay them $20 just to put in an application to join. You are not guaranteed to be accepted, so you may lose your $20 straightaway if you are accepted then there are a lot more fees involved when you finally get around to selling, anything from $500 to $3500.

Thankfully I undertook a lot of research before I put my money into this drop shipper, and if you look at the Better Business Bureau you will see how many complaints they have filed against them

I am not saying that no one has had any success with them as I believe there are several hundred people joining Simplx each and every week. It’s just that I haven’t found anyone who has made a living from Simplx.

The theory is much the same as other drop shippers. You sell the company’s products wherever you can, and then buy the stock from the company once you have actually sold the product. The products are in generally much cheaper than retail prices which make them ideal for selling on auction sites like eBay. Until I have found some satisfied sellers from Simplx, it is a site that I will keep an eye on for now.

I’d rather go for a reliable and reputable dropshipping services like WorldWide Brands.

There are major differences between the various types of suppliers of stocks that you can get online and offline. Here’s a basic guide and definition to what is manufacturers, wholesalers, suppliers and retailers.

1. Manufacturers
These are literally the factories where the products are produced and they rarely have a supply channel to online sellers. Manufacturers are, for example, the Sony camera factory or the Prada eyewear factory. The manufacturers work through people further along the supply channel that makes these products available to sellers. (read further). If you can do a deal with a manufacturer (smaller ones will be open to such deals) then your margins will be higher than if you sourced the goods further down the supply line.

2. Wholesalers
A wholesaler generally has a range of good from various manufacturers that are available to physical retail stores and online sellers. These are generally themed wholesalers e.g. sports wear, cycles and accessories, cosmetics, etc. Wholesalers do not sell directly to the public but supply other businesses, including online businesses. Increasingly these wholesalers supply a drop shipping service to online sellers. In other words, you market their goods online, gather orders and they dispatch them to buyer directly from their warehouse, with your paperwork attached.

But traditionally, wholesalers supply the physical market and not the online market. This is changing though. You will have to enquire with the wholesaler how they are positioned to serve online sellers. Their prices are usually in line with the same products available from other wholesalers, but it is up to you to make sure you are not paying more than the going rate for the goods they stock.

Is SaleHoo A Scam?

salehoo logo
Salehoo Wholesale Supplier

Salehoo is a wholesale company that searches through other wholesaler to get the best prices for you. You can buy at a wholesale price and then sell on eBay or similar sites for a profit.

I have done some researches and compared prices on several Salehoo products with eBay. I found most of the items can be brought from SaleHoo and then sold at a profit on eBay. Just one word of caution. There are a minority of seasonal items prices in Salehoo which other sellers can likely undercut you.

There are many doubts circulated on the internet about whether Salehoo is a scam.

I can assure you though, that this global sourcing company is a legitimate one. I have contacted their support on some questions and the response was quick and professional. I received an answer, and all further follow-up replies about 30 minutes after I submitted the questions.

Best Match is the system according to which listings are returned in response to searches to ensure a better experience for eBay buyers. eBay introduced the Best Match search method in 2006 testing it in regional markets and finally making it site-wide in 2007.

While there was initial seller resistance to the system it has proved to be a workable and fair system.

The first thing to note is that Best Match is not the same as Google Search, which is entirely based on matching words and phrases, uniqueness, arrangements of words and paragraphs, internal website links and external links. eBay Best Match draws on word matches to a much lesser extent and instead brings other criteria into play.

eBay gives advantages to sellers whose deliver a high level of customer satisfaction according the Detailed Seller Ratings, so that sellers with high seller ratings (calculated over the previous 30 days) receive more exposure in the listing. Usually about half of all sellers meet this criterion.

The flip side of this arrangement is that
1. sellers with more than 5% dissatisfied buyers in the 30 days preceding the search and
2. sellers who have low ratings according to the Shipping & Handling Charge Detailed Seller Ratings

get lesser exposure on eBay best match search result. Decreased seller ratings will mean decreased visibility.
